Tutus, tricks, and tails! We saw this and more at our very first doggy fashion show hosted at Clubhound in Boise. Our furry friends strutted the runway with all they had and made quite the impression on everyone who joined us to watch this array of unique fashion choices worn by our favorite little, and some big, dogs. The owners of these talented pups were proud to show off their fur babies in their cute new wardrobes, both on the runway and off.
Dressing up your dog has been a trend for nearly 12,000 years and continues to be a fun way to bond with your pup while making them look stylish and unique in the process. Dog owner Katelynn says, “It’s kinda like kids nowadays; you get cute little outfits, and it's just a fun experience for everybody, dog included!” Making your dog more fashion-forward facilitates a stronger connection between owner and pet by building a sense of trust, as dogs are not born with the instinct to wear clothes like us humans are. We have gotten quite creative with ways to dress them up over the years.
Some popular fashion trends in the doggy world include shoes and boots, cozy knitted sweaters, and, last but certainly not least, hair dye. One of the pups in our show sported bright pink hair dye, giving her the cutest cotton candy look you just can’t look away from. These hair dyes are completely pet-safe and, not to mention, utterly adorable. These vibrant colors are usually paired with a fun haircut to match the vibe of their new colorful coat. One pet owner at the show even mentioned that she had seen a fellow pup owner cut and dye her dog's hair to replicate a horse’s mane—super creative!
While some may think dressing up your dog is unusual, these pet owners, and the pets themselves, have so much fun in the process. They build a stronger bond with their pups through mutual trust, and we fashion enthusiasts love to see these dogs looking their best! Whether it's on our red carpet or just on a walk with their owner, these stylish pups bring joy and laughter to everyone around them. Dressing up not only showcases their personality but also highlights the creativity and love of their owners. Ultimately, it’s a delightful way to celebrate the unique bond betw-----een humans and their furry companions, reminding us all that fashion can be a fun and playful expression of affection. So, whether it’s a costume for a special occasion or a chic everyday outfit, the joy that these dressed-up dogs bring is undeniable!
Special thanks to Julie Emerick from Clubhond and Nancy from Pawtograph Canine Talent helping train models, and dogs to prepare for the runway!
